The Ricky Barbour
Scholarship Fund, Inc. is named after Richard L. Barbour Jr.,
an extraordinary young man, a good son, a good brother, a great friend, a
UD Wrestler, a prosecutor with a deep commitment to justice; and a sincere and
caring
human being. His life was cut short in 1991, the victim of a
senseless armed robbery at an ATM machine in Philadelphia. Our non
profit group provides an annual scholarship to a deserving University
of Delaware Student or Group on Rick's behalf. The Fund is a 501(c) (3) tax exempt charitable organization so your donation will be tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. The scholarship is presented yearly by the board members of The Fund.
The Scholarship Fund presents an annual spring Golf Outing which is going into it's 11th year. New for 2009 was the addition of a Texas Hold-Em' Poker Tournament, held in the fall. 100% of the net proceeds of these events benefit the Scholarship Fund. The Golf outing includes a luncheon, awards ceremony, and Raffle. This is an opportunity to bring old friends,
colleagues, and new acquaintances together for a day of
good golf, food, fun, countless memories and charity. The hope is to
keep the memory of Ricky Barbour alive while also helping a student at
the University that gave so much to him. This event will help us all
